Hare inherited from the estate, probated 27 May 1812, of Christophel Hare, his father, receiving tracts called SLABACK TOWN, NEW ADDITION, and MICHELS MEADOWS, totaling 82 acres.6 Jacob B. Hare was mentioned in the will of Elizabetha Caleboch, his mother, with his brother John HARE appointed as his guardian, dated 1815 at Baltimore County, Maryland.7 Jacob B. Hare married Elizabeth Feather, daughter of Henry Fetter and Catherine Messenheimer, circa 1816.2 Jacob B. Hare and Elizabeth Feather appeared on the census of 1820 at Baltimore County, Maryland, as Jacob HAIR, and lists 1 daughter , 1F-10. Jacob B. Hare executed a land record selling the tract, "Slabing Town," to Henry Hoover on 11 August 1825. He and Elizabeth Feather appeared on the census of 1830 at Baltimore County, Maryland, listed as HARE, with 3 unknown daughters (2F-5; 1F-10). In 1840, Jacob B. Hare and Elizabeth Feather appeared on the Federal Census of Baltimore County, Maryland. Their children William Franklin, David F, Henry F, Jesse Stoffell, Elizabeth, Eliza, Eliza Stoffell and Sarah were listed as living with them. The name, Stoffell, that shows in the names of the children in the 1850 Census record raised some questions; however, in April of 2002 an old church ledger for St. Abraham's Lutheran Church was found. The ledger contained the baptismal records for all of the "Stoffel" children except John and Eliza. This proved their parents were Jacob and Elizabeth. Also, John was named John Staufel Hare when his marriage to Barbara Ebbert was announced. In 1850, Jacob B. Hare and Elizabeth Feather appeared on the Federal Census of 11th Ward (now Waverly section), Baltimore City, Maryland, listed with having in his household an unknown Susan, 25. Their children John Stoffell, Jesse Stoffell, Rachel Stoffell, Angeline Stoffell, James Stoffell, Eliza Stoffell, William Franklin, David F, Henry F, Sarah, Elizabeth and Eliza were listed as living with them. Jacob B. Hare was a farmer in 1850. He executed a land record acquiring the tract, "Slabing Town," from Henry Hoover on 13 June 1853. In 1860, Jacob B. Hare and Elizabeth Feather appeared on the Federal Census. Their children John Stoffell, Jesse Stoffell, Rachel Stoffell, Eliza Stoffell, Angeline Stoffell and James Stoffell were listed as living with them. Jacob B. Hare was a farmer in 1860. In 1870, Jacob B. Hare and Elizabeth Feather appeared on the Federal Census of Wiseburg, Baltimore County, Maryland, listed as having in the household an unknown Martha, 14 (suspect she is the daughter of either William Franklin or Henry F). He owned real estate worth $2,000 and personal property worth $900. Jacob B. Hare was a farmer in 1870. He left a will in 1882, executed by George H Hare. The heir(s) was/were Emalene Hare, Elizabeth J Hare, Susan Alice Hare, Florence Hare, Mary Catherine Hare, Reuben Wesley Hare, Estella Hare, Martha E Hare, Sarah Hare, Elizabeth Hare, Rachel Stoffell Hare, Angeline Stoffell Hare, William Franklin Hare, David F Hare, John Stoffell Hare, Jesse Stoffell Hare and Eliza Hare; The will also bequeathed $10 to the heirs of daughter Susanna. James is not mentioned as a son but is named as a son of daughter Susannah.
