He was also known as Bernard Steiner.1 He was born on 20 August 1728 in Kirtorf, Vogelsbergkreis, Hessen, Germany.2,3,4 He was baptised on 20 August 1728 at Evangelische Kirche in Zuffenhausen, Wurttemberg, Deutschland.4,5 About 1730 Bernard Sterner was Roman Catholic at Conewago Chapel in Edge Grove, Adams County, Pennsylvania.6 He married Margaret Albright about 1763.7,3 He migrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from Rotterdam (via Cowes UK), Netherlands, on 27 October 1764 together with Margaret Albright aboard the Ship Hero, captained by Ralph Forster.1 He was listed in the tax record of 1779 in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania, as owning 63 acres, 2 horses, and 3 head of cattle and valued at 10 pounds.8 He was listed in the tax record of 1780 in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania, listed as owning 63 acres of land, 2 horses, and 3 head of horned cattle, and being valued at 10 pounds.9 He was listed in the tax record of 1781 in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania, as owning 63 acres, two horses, and five cows -- tax amount 1.5.0 pounds.10 He was listed in the tax record of 1782 in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania, listed as owning 63 acres of land, 2 horses, 5 cows, and 4 sheep, valued at 66 pounds 6 shillings, and taxed at 2 pounds, 12 shillings, 8 pence.9 He was listed in the tax record of 1785 in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania, listed as owning 63 acres of land, 1 horse, and 3 head of horned cattle, valued at 30 pounds 18 shillings. He was taxed 5 shillings.9 He was listed in the tax record of 1788 in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania, listed as owning 63 acres of land, 2 horses, and 2 cows, being valued at 45 pounds 12 shillings, and taxed at 7 shillings 3 pence.9 He was listed in the tax record of 1789 in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania, listed as owning 63 acres of land, 2 horses, and 2 cows, being valued at 59 pounds 2 shillings, and taxed at 8 shillings 4 pence.9 He and Margaret Albright appeared in the census in 1790 in York County, Pennsylvania, listed as head of a household of 1 while male 16 years or older, 5 while males under 16, and 2 white females.11 On 26 August 1794, in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania, Bernard Sterner witnessed the will of Anthony Zanker.12 Bernard Sterner was listed in the tax record of 1795 in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania.13 He died on 18 October 1808 in Conewago Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania, at age 80.14,2,3 He was buried on 23 October 1808 at Conewago Chapel Cemetery in Conewago Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania.2,6

Michael Runkle and Elizabeth Runkle were living in the household with their parents.
