He was born on 15 January 1830.1,2 In 1860 George H Hare was a master carpenter.3 In 1860, George H Hare appeared on the census, in the household of his mother, Catherina Hoffacker. He married Maria Morrison about 1862. On 24 March 1863, George H Hare received an appointment as Postmaster in Grave Run Mills, Baltimore, Maryland.4 He registered for military service in July 1863 in Grave Run, 2nd Congressional District, Baltimore County, Maryland, claiming to be 36 years old (although only 33), and thus just making it to a Class II status, and a farmer.5 On 30 September 1863 George H Hare was a Postmaster listed as 1/4 time with E.S. Morrison covering the rest of the time, receiving as compensation $1.42 and oweing to the US Government $3.28 in Grave Run Mills, Baltimore, Maryland.6 He was in Military Service about 1863 in Maryland as a private in Company B of the 3rd Reginment of the Maryland Infantry.7 On 30 September 1869 George H Hare was a Postmaster receiving $14 as compensation and oweing to the US Government $15.67 in Grave Run Mills, Baltimore, Maryland.6 He and Maria Morrison appeared in the census on 8 September 1870 in 5th District, Baltimore County, Maryland, listed as owning $3900 in real estate and $2597 in personal property.8 On 8 September 1870 George H Hare was a wool and paper manufacturer.8 On 30 September 1871 George H Hare was a Postmaster receiving $14 as compensation, in Grave Run Mills, Baltimore, Maryland.6 In 1874 George H Hare was a Postmaster in Grave Run Mills, Baltimore, Maryland.9 He and Maria Morrison appeared in the census on 16 June 1880 in 5th District, Baltimore County, Maryland.10 On 16 June 1880 George H Hare was a wool manufacturer.10 He was named as executor in the will of Jacob B. Hare, his uncle, on 24 February 1882. George H Hare died of a stroke of paralysis on 23 May 1897 at age 67.2,11 He was buried after 23 May 1897 at Grave Run M. E. Church Cemetery in Baltimore County, Maryland.2
