Biography

Mary was also known as Mary Whitaker.1 She was born about 1667.1 She married about 1685. She married John Whitaker about 1686.1 On 14 May 1713, John Whitaker and Mary sold land to Charles Hammond of Anne Arundel County known as "Whitacre's/Whitaker's Chance" (150 acres), with only the rights to "Phelps Luck" excepted, in Baltimore County, Maryland.2 She was mentioned in the will of John Whitaker, her husband, dated on 9 November 1713.1 On 28 November 1716, Mary was mentioned when John Whitaker and Ann Dadd sold land known as "Whitacre's Ridge" (a 100 acre portion, being 2/3 of the total), in Baltimore County, Maryland, to Robert Pearson of Murplein Township, Chester County, PA. The residue of the tract (50 acres) belonging to Mary, relict of John's father, John Whitacre, for the rest of her life.2

Biography

John Whitaker was born on 23 April 1691.1 On 9 November 1713, John Whitaker was named as an heir in the will of John Whitaker, his father, to receive 250 acres called WHITAKER'S RIDGE jointly with his brother Charles. Other heirs were Charles Whitaker, Peter Whitaker, Abraham Whitaker, and Isaac Whitaker.1 On 14 January 1714 John Whitaker posted admin bond for his father's estate along with Thomas Preston and William Bond, which was inventoried by Thomas Bond and William Howard on 26 Jan 1714. It was valued at 99.3.3 pounds and listed Daniel and Elizabeth Scott as kin.1 He married Ann Dadd on 26 April 1714.1,2,3 On 4 August 1715, John Whitaker and Ann Dadd sold land to Samuel Hughes known as "Whitacre's Ridge" (a 125 acre portion) in Baltimore County, Maryland.4 On 28 November 1716, John Whitaker and Ann Dadd sold land known as "Whitacre's Ridge" (a 100 acre portion, being 2/3 of the total), in Baltimore County, Maryland, to Robert Pearson of Murplein Township, Chester County, PA. The residue of the tract (50 acres) belonging to Mary, relict of John's father, John Whitacre, for the rest of her life.4 He died on 26 April 1720 at age 29.1

Peter Whitaker was born on 27 April 1696.1 On 9 November 1713, Peter Whitaker was named as an heir in the will of John Whitaker, his father, to recieve ENLARGEMENT jointly with his brother Abraham. Other heirs were John Whitaker, Charles Whitaker, Abraham Whitaker, and Isaac Whitaker.1 Peter Whitaker married Frances Brown on 10 January 1722.1,2 On 6 March 1722, Peter Whitaker and Frances Brown sold land to William Bradford, Sr, known as "The Enlargement" (1/2 of the tract being 64 acres) in Baltimore County, Maryland.3,1 On 2 June 1726, Peter Whitaker purchased land known as "Whitacre's Venture" (50 acres), which was a portion of "Whitacre's Ridge", in Baltimore County, Maryland, from John Powell and his wife Phillis. John Powell had purchased 125 acres, including the above, from Solomon Armstrong, who bought it from Peter's brother, Charles Whitacre.3 On 28 June 1740, Peter Whitaker and Frances Brown sold land to Solomon Gallion known as "Whitacre's Ridge" (a 50 acre portion), now known as "Whitacre's Venture", in Baltimore County, Maryland.3

Abraham Whitaker was born on 19 September 1702.1 On 9 November 1713, Abraham Whitaker was named as an heir in the will of John Whitaker, his father, to receive ENLARGEMENT jointly with his brother Peter. Other heirs were John Whitaker, Charles Whitaker, Peter Whitaker, and Isaac Whitaker.1 On 2 June 1724 Abraham Whitaker was a planter.2 On 2 June 1724, Abraham Whitaker sold land known as "The Enlargement" (32 acres) in Baltimore County, Maryland, to William Bradford, Sr, the schoolmaster.2 On 2 June 1724, Abraham Whitaker sold land to John McComas known as "The Enlargement" (32 acres), which was later known as "Whitacre's Enlargement", in Baltimore County, Maryland.2 In November 1724 Abraham Whitaker was indicted for having a baseborn child with Susanna Temple.1 He married Ann Poteet on 15 July 1725.1,3,4 He died before 31 December 1739.1

Charles Whitaker was born on 11 January 1723/24.1 In November 1741 Charles Whitaker chose Parker Hall as his guardian.1 On 14 May 1746, Samuel Hughes sold land known as "Eastland Hills" (112 acres), "Sophia's Dairy" (a portion only), and "Hathaway's Hazard" (200 acres except for a parcel given by Samuel Brown, who later sold it to John Durbin who sold it to Samuel Hughes), in Baltimore County, Maryland, to Charles Whitaker. The tracts were then sold to Col. John Hall, Jacob Giles, and Isaac Webster.2
