Aquila Scott was born about 1756.1,3,2 He began military service on 9 December 1775 in Captain Jacob Bond's Company of the Harford County, Maryland Militia.4,5 In 1776, Aquila Scott appeared on the census in Bush River Lower Hundred, Harford County, Maryland, in the household of his mother, Anne Wheeler.6 In 1778 Aquila Scott signed the Oath of Fidelity and Support before William Bond, one of the State Justices for Harford County in Harford County, Maryland.7,5 In 1778 Aquila Scott was a signer of the Association of Freemen for Bush River Lower.5 On 27 April 1782, Aquila Scott sold land consisting of 2 and 5/8 acres to Harford County for a courthouse and prison, and received 22 pounds 6 shillings 3 pence, or roughly $110. The land was located in what is now the town of Bel Air, and was originally surveyed by Daniel Scott, Aquila's grandfather or great-grandfather.4 In March 1783, Aquila Scott served on the petit jury in Harford County, Maryland.4 In 1783 Aquila Scott served as a petit juror in Harford County, Maryland.5

Daniel Scott was born in 1655 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.1,2,3,4,5 He married Jane Johnson about 1680.1,2,3,3,4 On 6 March 1682, Robert Benger and Katherine sold land known as "Oliver's Reserve" (150 acres) and "Jenifers Kindness" (30 acres) in Baltimore County, Maryland, to Daniel Scott.6,7 In 1682, Daniel Scott lived in Baltimore County, Maryland.1 He executed a land record showing he owned them in March 1682/83.1 On 16 December 1688, Daniel Scott executed a land record regarding "Swallow's Hill" (216 acres) in Baltimore County, Maryland, to lay it out, by virtue of a warrant for 400 acres granted to Michael Hastings, which pasted to Edward Boothby, then Thomas Richardson, and finally to Daniel Scott.4 He registered for military service between 1694 and 1696 as an Ensign in the Militia in Baltimore County, Maryland.3 He executed a land record showing he owned it in November 1695.1 He executed a land record showing he owned it on 7 November 1696.1,4 He executed a land record to document receiving it from John Chadwell on 6 March 1700.4,7 On 21 April 1701 Daniel Scott was noted in an affidavit by John Chadwell that stated Daniel put up a locust post in place of one of the bounded trees of Swallow's Hill, which had fallen down.4 He executed a land record to document receiving them from John Chadwell and his wife Mary on 17 September 1701.4 He executed a land record to document receiving it from John Chadwell on 10 November 1702 in Baltimore County, Maryland.4 He and Jane Johnson executed a land record to convey it to a William Scott on 3 August 1703 in Baltimore County, Maryland.4 About 1719 Daniel Scott was seen for the first time by his grandson, Thomas Smithson (son of Ann.)1 He died on 15 February 1724 in Baltimore County, Maryland, at age ~69.1,3,3,3,4 On 11 August 1731, Daniel Scott witnessed the will of Thomas Smithson.1

Samuel Hughes was born about 1685.1 He married Jane Scott on 4 November 1714.1,2 On 4 August 1715, John Whitaker and Ann Dadd sold land known as "Whitacre's Ridge" (a 125 acre portion) in Baltimore County, Maryland, to Samuel Hughes.3 On 1 June 1722, John Durbin sold land known as "Durbin's Choice" (48 acres) in Baltimore County, Maryland, to Samuel Hughes.3 On 7 December 1726, Samuel Hughes and Jane Scott sold land to John Durbin known as "Durbin's Choice" or "Durbin's Chance" (48 acres), "Hughes' Enlargement" (200 acres), and "Hughes' Choice" (200 acres), in Baltimore County, Maryland, in exchange for 312 other acres.3 On 7 December 1726, John Durbin and Avarilla Scott sold land known as "Eastland Hills" (112 acres), a portion of "Sophia's Dairy", and "Hathaway's Hazard" (200 acres, except for a parcel given by Samuel Brown to Charles Whitaker, who later sold the land to John Durbin), in Baltimore County, Maryland, to Samuel Hughes in exchange for 448 other acres.3 He and Jane Scott executed a land record to convey it to Gregory Farmer on 19 June 1736.1 On 13 July 1743 Samuel Hughes conveyed livestock to daughter Sarah, son John, and daughter Margaret Hanson.1 He executed a land record to convey it to John Hughes on 3 August 1743 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1,3 In April 1746 Samuel Hughes and Hannah Litton (alias Jones) were summoned before the vestry of St. John's Parish for unlawful cohabitation.1 On 14 May 1746, Samuel Hughes sold land known as "Eastland Hills" (112 acres), "Sophia's Dairy" (a portion only), and "Hathaway's Hazard" (200 acres except for a parcel given by Samuel Brown, who later sold it to John Durbin who sold it to Samuel Hughes), in Baltimore County, Maryland, to Charles Whitaker. The tracts were then sold to Col. John Hall, Jacob Giles, and Isaac Webster.3 In September 1757 Jane Scott reported Samuel Hughes to the vestry of St. John's Parish for unlawful cohabitation with Henrietta Jones.1 He executed a land record to receive it from Walter Ashmore in 1757.1 He executed a land record to convey it to Aaron Hughes in 1757.1 Samuel Hughes died in February 1771 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1,2
