William Amos was born in 1690 in England.1 He married Ann McComus in January 1712/13.1 In 1713, William Amos purchased land known as "Clarkson's Purchase" (200 acres) from Henry Wright consisting.1 He made a will on 24 September 1757. Ann McComus, Benjamin Amos, James L Amos, Joshua Amos, Mordecai Amos, Thomas Valentine Amos, and William Amos, Jr, were mentioned in the will. William Amos had his estate probated on 10 March 1759.1 In 1759, William Amos had acquired about 1300 acres and named his plantation "Mt. Soma" (Amos spelled backwards).1 He died in 1759 in Baltimore County, Maryland, at age ~69.1
