Avarilla Scott was also known as Avarilla Durbin.3,4 She was also known as Abarillah Scott.3,4 She was born about 1696 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1,2 She married John Durbin on 20 August 1715 in Baltimore County, Maryland.3,4 On 7 December 1726, John Durbin and Avarilla Scott sold land to Samuel Hughes in Baltimore County, Maryland, consisting of 112 acres known as "Eastland Hills", a portion of "Sophia's Dairy", and 200 acres known as "Hathaway's Hazard", except for a parcel of "Hathaway's Hazard" given by Samuel Brown to Charles Whitaker (who later sold the land to John Durbin), in exchange for 448 other acres.5 She died on 1 December 1741 in Baltimore County, Maryland.2

John Durbin was born about 1690 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1,2 On 3 November 1714, John Durbin purchased land in Baltimore County, Maryland, consisting of 100 acres known as "Tower Hill" from Daniel and Margaret McTish/McTavish.3 He married Avarilla Scott on 20 August 1715 in Baltimore County, Maryland.4,5 On 26 March 1720, John Durbin purchased land in Baltimore County, Maryland, consisting of 102 acres known as "Eastland Hills" and a portion of "Sophia's Dairy" from John and Martha Hall.3 On 29 March 1720, John Durbin purchased land in Baltimore County, Maryland, consisting of a 100 acres portion of "Hathaway's Hazard" except for a small plot at the beginning tree of tract, 10 perches x 25 perches, which was given to Charles Whitaker, from Samuel and Mary Brown.3 On 21 February 1722, John Durbin obtained a land patent for 100 acres known as "Betty's Lot" in Baltimore County, Maryland.3 On 1 June 1722, John Durbin sold land consisting of 48 acres known as "Durbin's Choice" to Samuel Hughes in Baltimore County, Maryland.3 On 20 July 1725, John Durbin purchased land in Baltimore County, Maryland, consisting of 200 acres known as "Hathaway's Hazard" except for a small plot at the beginning tree of tract, 10 perches x 25 perches, which was given to Charles Whitaker, from Samuel and Mary Brown.3 On 7 December 1726, Samuel Hughes and Jane Scott sold land to John Durbin consisting of 48 acres known as "Durbin's Choice" or "Durbin's Chance", 200 acres known as "Hughes' Enlargement", and 200 acres known as "Hughes' Choice", in exchange for 312 other acres in Baltimore County, Maryland.3 On 7 December 1726, John Durbin and Avarilla Scott sold land to Samuel Hughes in Baltimore County, Maryland, consisting of 112 acres known as "Eastland Hills", a portion of "Sophia's Dairy", and 200 acres known as "Hathaway's Hazard", except for a parcel of "Hathaway's Hazard" given by Samuel Brown to Charles Whitaker (who later sold the land to John Durbin), in exchange for 448 other acres.3 On 7 June 1732, John Durbin purchased land in Baltimore County, Maryland, consisting of a 100 acre portion of "Triple or Treble Union", which was originally surveyed before Oct 1731 for Thomas White, Samuel Hughes, and John Durbin, received on this date from Thomas White.3 On 7 August 1734, John Durbin sold land consisting of 100 acres known as "Tower Hill" to Thomas Cottrell in Baltimore County, Maryland.3 He made a will on 22 September 1743 which mentioned tracts of land called "Imble's Union" (perhaps "Triple Union" or "Treble Union"), "Hughes' Choice", "Hughes' Enlargement", and "Betty's Lot". William Durbin and John Durbin were named as heirs.3 John Durbin died about 1743 in Baltimore County, Maryland.2

Daniel Scott was born in 1747.1,2 He married Margaret Short about 1767. On 22 March 1775, Daniel Scott was a signer of the Bush Declaration, which was signed by 34 duly elected citizens in Harford County, Maryland. This committee decided to show their support for Boston and their disdain for King George by signing the document at the risk of their lives and fortunes. It has been characterized as the first Declaration of Independence, and was signed just 3 weeks prior to the Battles of Lexington and Concord which signaled the beginning of the American Revolution.3,4 He registered for military service on 9 December 1775 as a private in Captain Bond's Co. No. 11.3 In 1775 Daniel Scott was a member of the War Committee in Harford County, Maryland.3 In 1775 Daniel Scott was a signer of the Association of Freemen for Bush River Upper and a solicitor for Bush River Lower.3 He appeared in the census in 1776 in Bush River Lower Hundred, Harford County, Maryland, listed as having in the household 3 servants (Patrick Wagon 30, Mary Armstrong 34, Peter ___ 14) and a negro, Jack, aged 34.5 In 1776 Daniel Scott was solicitor of the Association of Freemen for Bush River Lower.6 He registered for military service in 1778 as a captain in the 8th Battalion of the Militia.3 He died in 1828 at age ~81.3

Biography
Daniel MacComus was also known as Daniel McComas. He was born about 1666.1 He married Elizabeth about 1686.1,2,3,4 He migrated to Maryland from Scotland about 1686.1 In 1687, Daniel MacComus lived in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.5 Before 4 August 1692 Daniel MacComus was a taylor in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.6 On 4 August 1692, Daniel MacComus purchased land in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, from Thomas Browne and his wife Catherine, of Anne Arundel County, a planter, called Brown's Chance for 4000 good pounds merchantable tobacco. Brown's Chance lay on the sounth side of the Severn River, bounded by property of Richard Wharfield, Jonas Pierpoint Thomas, and Edward Gardner, amounting to 98 acres. Thomas Browne obtained the tract from Richard Beard, as part of a greater tract of land that was patented by Thomas Browne on 1 Oct 1687 in the City of St. Mary's.6 He died before 16 March 1699 as at this time, his son and heir, John, requested the recording of Daniel's deed to Brown's Chance, which John would not have done if his father was still alive.1,5,3,4,6

That John McComas was this James' uncle.3,9 On 16 June 1765, James McComas was named as an heir in the will of Daniel McComas, his father, to receive GRESHAM'S COLLEGE.10,11 On 22 March 1775, James McComas was a signer of the Bush Declaration, which was signed by 34 duly elected citizens in Harford County, Maryland. This committee decided to show their support for Boston and their disdain for King George by signing the document at the risk of their lives and fortunes. He was reelected and returned on 25 Nov 1778.5 Between 1778 and 1790 James McComas was a justice in Harford County, Maryland.5 Between 1779 and 1781 James McComas was a tax commissioner.5 Between 1782 and 1784 James McComas was a justice in Harford County, Maryland.5 In 1782 James McComas was elected to the Vestry of St. John's Parish in Harford County, Maryland.5 In 1783 James McComas was considered an Esquire.5 He was assessed for personal property value of 432.0.0 pounds, including 7 slaves and 14 oz plate in 1783.5 He was assessed for 380 acres in Harford County and 1 improved lot in Abington, Harford County in 1783.5 On 12 April 1790, James McComas was a County Justice in Harford County, Maryland.14 In 1790 James McComas was a tax commissioner.5 Before 1791 James McComas owned a sawmill.5,6 He owned 1 slave in 1790.5 He died on 19 February 1791 in Harford County, Maryland, at age 55.1,4,5
