Biography
John McComas was born on 4 July 1687 in Baltimore County, Maryland.2,3 He executed a land record whereby Thomas Browne transfered the deed to Daniel MacComus, acknowledging the indenture from 7 years prior. This was done at the request of John McComas -- Daniel's son and heir of law -- on 16 March 1699 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.4 He executed a land record where Thomas Browne's wife Catherine relinquished her dower rights on 19 March 1705 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.4 On 23 May 1710, John McComas purchased land known as "Littleton" (182 acres) in Baltimore County, Maryland, from Stephen Gill of Anne Arundel County, given to him by Thomas Thurston, in exchange for 98 acres known as "Brown's Chance", which was located on the south side of the Severn River.5,6 On 27 November 1712, John McComas sold land to William McComas known as "Littleton" (a 90 acre portion) in Baltimore County, Maryland.6,5 John McComas married Ann Delap about 1712 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1,7,2,3 On 4 November 1714, John McComas sold land to John Norrington. Eventually this land would pass through several hands and end up owned by his nephew, James McComas known as "Littleton" (the upper 92 acres) in Baltimore County, Maryland.6,5 On 2 June 1724, Abraham Whitaker sold land known as "The Enlargement" (32 acres), which was later known as "Whitacre's Enlargement", in Baltimore County, Maryland, to John McComas.5 On 9 June 1726, John McComas and Ann Delap sold land known as "Come By Chance" (a 20 acre portion), originally purchased by Ann's first husband, William Love, in Baltimore County, Maryland, to William Bradford, Sr, in exchange for a 20 acre portion of "Enlargement."5 On 6 June 1728, John McComas and Ann Delap sold land to Richard Ruff known as "Come By Chance" (a 80 acre portion), now know as "Ruff's Enlargement", in Baltimore County, Maryland.5 On 5 September 1731, John McComas and Ann Delap sold land to Issac Webster for use as a mill known as "Come By Chance" (a 1 acre portion) in Baltimore County, Maryland.5 He died on 22 May 1739 in Baltimore County, Maryland, at age 51.7,2,3 He had his estate probated on 24 June 1740. Alexander McComas was born on 27 August 1721.1,2,3,4 He married Deborah Hartley between 12 January 1741 and 27 July 1747 in St. George's Parish.2,5,3 On 10 December 1741, Ann Delap sold land known as "Come By Chance" (a 98 acre portion) in Baltimore County, Maryland, to Alexander McComas. Also mentioned was Daniel McComas, Mary McComas, and Ann McComas.6 On 8 June 1743, Alexander McComas and Deborah Hartley sold land to Josias Middlemore known as "Edinborough" (100 acres which was part of "Robert's Choice") in Baltimore County, Maryland.6 On 12 November 1746, Alexander McComas and Deborah Hartley sold land to Thomas White known as "Come By Chance" (a 49 acre portion) in Baltimore County, Maryland.6 On 15 April 1749, Alexander McComas sold land to John Hall, Isaac Webster, and John Giles. Note: On 7 June 1749, Thomas White granted a release to these three men for this land, so there might have been a confusion in deed paperwork known as "Come By Chance" (a portion) in Baltimore County, Maryland.6 He executed a land record showing he owned them in 1750.2 On 20 March 1757, John Deaver sold land to Alexander McComas, in Baltimore County, Maryland, for 15 pounds of common money. The land was located on the east side of James Run on the head of the Bush River. John Deaver had gotten the land from his father, Thomas Deaver, who purchased it from his grandfather, John Deaver.7 He died before 27 October 1769.3

John Poteet was born about 1730.1 On 6 September 1753, William McComas sold land consisting of the remaining lease on 100 acres of a 200 acre tract known as "McComas' Manor" in Baltimore County, Maryland, to John Poteet.2 On 18 October 1760, John Poteet witnessed the will of Alexander McComas.3,4 John Poteet married Ann Miles on 20 April 1762.5,6,4 On 3 October 1767, John Poteet sold land known as "McComas' Manor" in Baltimore County, Maryland, to Aquila McComas, consisting of the remaining lease on a 100 acre portion. Aquila was the brother of John's wife's (Ann's) first husband, and the first cousin of William McComas, who had signed the lease over to John.2

Daniel McComas was born on 8 February 1721 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1,2,3,4 He married Tabitha Johnson on 26 January 1743.2,5,3,6 On 21 September 1747, Daniel McComas was named as an heir in the will of William McComas, his father, to receive 50 acres of GRESHAM'S COLLEGE. The other heirs were Solomon McComas, Moses McComas, Aaron McComas, William McComas, John McComas, Elizabeth McComas, Hannah McComas, and Eleanor McComas.2,7 On 7 April 1757, Daniel McComas witnessed the will of William McComas, his brother.7 On 19 July 1760, Solomon McComas and Ann sold land to Daniel McComas in Baltimore County, Maryland. The land was inherited from Solomon's father, William MacComas. It was sold for 25 pounds of current money. The land borders portions of the same tract owned by Moses MacComas and another portion already owned by Daniel MacComas, as well as Winter's Run. Also mentioned was Moses McComas.8 Daniel McComas witnessed the marriage of Thomas James and Ann Amos on 27 August 1761 at Little Falls Meeting House.2,9,10,4 On 16 June 1765, Daniel McComas witnessed the will of Daniel McComas.11,7 On 6 March 1773, Daniel McComas witnessed the will of Aquila McComas, his cousin.7,3 In August 1774, Daniel McComas posted a Surety Bond for Edward Robinson to get a tavern license. A Surety Bond is a guarantee of payment for applicable taxes.12 In 1776 Daniel McComas refused to sign the Association of Freemen for Gunpowder Upper before Captain Samuel Caldwell.11 He married Mary before 1778.3 He was listed in the tax record of 24 February 1778 in Gunpowder Upper Hundred, Harford County, Maryland.11 He was listed in the tax record of 1778 at the portion that was Bush River Upper Hundred until 1777 in Eden Hundred, Harford County, Maryland.11 In 1783, Daniel McComas lived in Gunpowder Upper and Lower Hundred, Maryland.2 He executed a land record showing he owned them in 1783.2 He was referred to as Jr., with his uncle being referred to as Sr.3 Before 1791 Daniel McComas owned a sawmill.13,3 He died on 18 February 1795 in St. John's Parish at age 74.14,3,4

William Amos, Jr, witnessed the marriage of Thomas James and Ann Amos on 27 August 1761 at Little Falls Meeting House.2,7,8,3 William Amos, Jr, married Martha Wiley in July 1765 in Baltimore County, Maryland.3 On 10 September 1775, William Amos, Jr, appeared on a list of Non-Associators and Non-Enrollers in Harford County as owing 3 pounds.9 In 1776 William Amos, Jr, signed the Association of Freemen for Bush River Upper before Robert Harris.6 He registered for military service about 1776 as a lieut. in the 6th Co. of the 92nd Regt. under Col. William McComas was born on 24 November 1727 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1,2,3,4 On 21 September 1747, William McComas was named as an heir in the will of William McComas, his father, to receive half of the dwelling plantation along with part of LITTLETON. The other heirs were Daniel McComas, Solomon McComas, Moses McComas, Aaron McComas, John McComas, Elizabeth McComas, Hannah McComas, and Eleanor McComas.2,5 On 6 September 1753, William McComas sold land consisting of the remaining lease on 100 acres of a 200 acre tract to John Poteet known as "McComas' Manor" in Baltimore County, Maryland.6 William McComas died before 7 April 1757.1,2,4 He made a will on 7 April 1757 for an estate appraised at 20.1.1 pounds. Thomas Bond, Jr, John George Bradford, Aaron McComas, Solomon McComas, Moses McComas, and Daniel McComas were witnesses to the will.5

Biography
Solomon McComas was born on 21 September 1729 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1,2,3,4 On 21 September 1747, Solomon McComas was named as an heir in the will of William McComas, his father, to receive 50 acres of GRESHAM'S COLLEGE. The other heirs were Daniel McComas, Moses McComas, Aaron McComas, William McComas, John McComas, Elizabeth McComas, Hannah McComas, and Eleanor McComas.2,5 Solomon McComas married Ann about 1756.2,3 On 7 April 1757, Solomon McComas witnessed the will of William McComas, his brother.5 On 13 May 1760, Solomon McComas purchased land known as "Ann's Dowry" (a 100 acre portion) in Baltimore County, Maryland, from John Watkins Junior, and his wife Hester, of Anne Arundel County, for 50 pounds current money of Maryland. The land was located on Bnam's run near the head of the Bush River, adjoining land purchased on the same day by his brother John. John Watkins inherited the land as heir of Elizabeth Carpenter, widow of Capt John Carpenter of Annapolis.6 On 19 July 1760, Solomon McComas and Ann sold land to Daniel McComas known as "Gresham's College" (50 acres) in Baltimore County, Maryland. The land was inherited from Solomon's father, William MacComas. It was sold for 25 pounds of current money. The land borders portions of the same tract owned by Moses MacComas and another portion already owned by Daniel MacComas, as well as Winter's Run. Also mentioned was Moses McComas.6 Solomon McComas witnessed the marriage of Thomas James and Ann Amos on 27 August 1761 at Little Falls Meeting House.2,7,8,4 Solomon McComas began military service on 30 September 1775 in Captain William Bradford's Company of the Harford County, Maryland Militia.9,10 In 1776 Solomon McComas was a signer of the Association of Freemen for Bush River Lower.10 In 1776, Solomon McComas and Ann lived in Bush River Lower Hundred, Harford County, Maryland.2,4 In 1776 Solomon McComas was a signer of the Association of Freemen for Bush River Lower before James McComas.11 In 1778 Solomon McComas was a signer of the Oath of Allegiance to Maryland.10 He died in 1781 in Harford County, Maryland, at age ~52.3,4
