Frederick Jason Sterner was born on 10 May 1869 in Pennsylvania.1,2 In 1880, Frederick Jason Sterner appeared on the census in 6th District, Baltimore County, Maryland, in the household of his parents, Levi Herbst Sterner and Lydia Ann Bailey.1 Frederick Jason Sterner married Mary Alice Loats on 21 May 1891. A year later, Frederick's brother Eli married Mary's sister Laura. In 1900 Frederick Jason Sterner was a salesman of machinery.3 He and Mary Alice Loats appeared in the census in 1900 in Hampstead, Carroll County, Maryland, listed as able to read and write and owning a home with a mortgage. Alfred Leon Sterner, Sr, Lydia J Sterner, Lottie B Sterner, Sadie J Sterner, and Levi L Sterner were living in the household with their parents.3 As of 1900, Frederick Jason Sterner and Mary Alice Loats had 5 (all still living) children.3 He married Lillie M. Harris on 30 October 1901 in Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland. The wedding was performed by Rev. S.J. Derr.4,5 On 10 June 1907 Frederick Jason Sterner filed an application (#881,737) for a patent. It addressed a "new and useful improvement in Railway-Chairs to provide a device for rigidly supporting the ends of the rails, thereby preventing vibration, and consequently the crushing of the ends of the rails." The patent was granted on March 10,1908.6 He appeared in the census in 1910 at 626 Elm Ave in Baltimore City, Maryland, listed as a widower. Goldie E Sterner, Sadie J Sterner, Lottie B Sterner, Lydia J Sterner, and Alfred Leon Sterner, Sr, were living in the household with a parent. Also in the household was Annie Mary Sterner.2 In 1910 Frederick Jason Sterner was a huckster.2 He married Mary J about 1911.7 In 1918, Frederick Jason Sterner lived at 3405 Chestnut Ave in Baltimore City, Maryland.8 In 1920 Frederick Jason Sterner was an express driver for the Roland Transfer Co.7,8 In 1920, Frederick Jason Sterner and Mary J lived at 3405 Chestnut Ave in Baltimore City, Maryland.7 He and Mary J appeared in the census in 1920 in Ward 13 District 0216, Baltimore City, Maryland, listed as owning a home with a mortgage.7 In 1924 Frederick Jason Sterner was working in transportation.8 In 1924, Frederick Jason Sterner and Mary J lived at 3405 Chestnut Ave in Baltimore City, Maryland.8 He died on 31 January 1926 in Baltimore City, Maryland, at age 56.9 He was buried after 31 January 1926 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Roland Ave, in Baltimore County, Maryland. Grace M Sterner, Levi Ralph Sterner, Elizabeth E Sterner, and Minnie V Sterner were living in the household with their parents.3 As of 1900, Eli Emory Sterner and Laura Kate Loats had 8 (4 still living) children.3 He appeared in the census in 1920 at 928 Gordland Ave in Baltimore City, Maryland, listed as owning home, free and clear. Elizabeth E Sterner, Minnie V Sterner, Leroy Franklin Sterner, George E. Sterner, Lawrence V. Sterner, and Levi Ralph Sterner were living in the household with a parent. Also in the household was Horace U. Smith.4 Eli Emory Sterner married Sussie Mae Butcher about 1921. It was her first marriage.5 In 1930 Eli Emory Sterner was a huckster of vegetables and not a veteran.5 He and Sussie Mae Butcher appeared in the census in 1930 at 1020 Woodheights Ave in Baltimore City, Maryland, listed as owning a home worth $5000, and having a radio. Harry Elwood Sterner was living in the household with parents.5 As of 18 April 1947, Eli Emory Sterner and Sussie Mae Butcher lived at 1020 Woodheights Ave in Baltimore City, Maryland.6 On 18 April 1947 Eli Emory Sterner was a produce dealer.6 He died on 18 April 1947 at age 76.2,6 He was buried on 23 April 1947 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Baltimore County, Maryland.2,6
